I took off a carb this morning because it was wet and seems to be weeping fuel. I had inadvertently left the fuel valve turned on for two days and again rediscovered why I had started the habit of always turning it off. After taking it apart I found that the top section is slightly warped and won't sit evenly on the gasket. Its a Zenith aluminum carb (12773) and it is positioned only an inch away from the block, so I'm thinking that the heat has warped the carb. Does this sound feasible and what can be done? Is this when I need to have the surfaces ground? Should I use a heat shield? Any other ideas?
Also, are there any site recommendations for ordering new carbs online? Thanks
