First thing your going to need is a gun to protect your family and possesions, because when things get bad, they are really going to get bad. Now, I live in an area that has big cities not too awfully far away, and when they run out of money and food there, they are going to go out into the country looking for your stuff.
2nd thing you should have is your own food supply, canned foods and grow a garden.
3rd thing is your own generator so you can make your own power on atleast a limited basis.
