Say the stock market crashed tomorrow? What would the next step be to go on with life?

No jobs, no cash, maybe no electricity etc. What would you do? Seriously...what would you do for survival?

Boycott the recession.

First thing your going to need is a gun to protect your family and possesions, because when things get bad, they are really going to get bad. Now, I live in an area that has big cities not too awfully far away, and when they run out of money and food there, they are going to go out into the country looking for your stuff.

2nd thing you should have is your own food supply, canned foods and grow a garden.

3rd thing is your own generator so you can make your own power on atleast a limited basis.

I have a feeling the country boys will survive a whole lot better than the city people just because we are more self sufficient. A country boy doesn't think food only comes from a grocery store.

What you do is max out all your credit card to cash, hid the cash and wait for them to "forgive" the credit cards with a bail out.

Well, let's see..... there's deer in the woods, rabbits, too, fish in the lake, taters in the bin, beans in the jar. Got room for some chickens next Spring, if I can get gas, I've got a rototiller and plenty of space to put in more for me and the kids...... They are teachers, probably won't get laid off, but they might need a bit of food. Got locks and a twelve gauge to keep away intruders, got lots of good neighbors and church friends to team up with. 2010 will be my fiftieth high school anniversary, so I wouldn't mind going back to the old home town a bit skinnier(can't do anything about the bald spot, though). Will probably cancel my $55/month cable TV so I won't have to watch CNN, Fox News, MSNBC News and get so worked up about "the second Great Depression. Will also try to remember two things; 85% employment rate during the last depression, and my favorite paraphrase of Psalm 23; "The Lord is my shepherd, I have everything I need."

Ive already have a start.I live off grid -have wind mill, generator Battery storage system. Have own well with static water level at 15 ft so I can use small pump if necessary. We 'can' everything we get a hold of-dont depend on freezer. Raise pasture feed beef and pork-just enough for us. We live 4 miles from town and we are quite comfortable when we are snowed in for a few days.We are well stocked on guns and ammo. Live in an area where deer and turkey abound and a few hundred yards from a nice Lake for fish. Although I would miss my internet.....

I have a hunting cabin so far back on the creek farm, no one would ever find me. Propane cook stove and propane lights. Three years of wood for heat, with wood heating stoves in cabin, farm shop, and home. Water storage with pump running off a 12v battery, charged by solar. Outhouses, generator, canned food, deer, turkey, plenty of guns and ammo. Gold and silver stored in gun safe. Bows, arrows, crossbow, muzzleloader, bullets, gunpowder, 10,000 primers, New and fired brass cases,plus all the reloading equipment.

Did I forget anything? Not trying to brag, this is just the stuff I have accumulated because I like to hunt and farm. Biggest concern would be fighting off those who would swarm the countryside trying to take what you've got.

Simple I would buy up all of the stock that I can find from major companies that are very low. When its all over I will sell it at a very nice profit.
The market always rebounds some times it take a little longer but it always rebounds.

It seems to me that there is a big difference between a market crash and a depression.
This current doom and gloom about the market is nothing more than doom and gloom really. The only ones that will actually 'lose' money are the ones tht decide to bail now with the prices down. That, on the other hand, seems to create a great buying oppertunity for those who are likely creating the doom and gloom, which is most likely what this is all about.

The core problem that existed with sub-prime, and the credit crunch it's created will likely be mostly offset by the 700 bil 'package'. That should restore liquidity to the banks, provided this foolishness doesn't lead to a bank run.

There is no doubt a slowdown or recession upon us that won't be good, but I don't see why it has to be very bad IF the doom talk can be brought under control. Two major election campaigns under way in north america right now are not helping. Here in Canada I'm watching the news nightly... and I see Dion and Jacka$s both spouting depression talk and taking cheap shots at the government in hopes of scoring political points by playing on peoples fear when their comments could have real results in generating fear. Both seem to me to be the most irresponsible type of fools that could ever hope to take office. Sitting here, it doesn't look any better to the south...
It seems to me that recessions and depressons are self fulling profecies... based on fear, creating more fear and causing a chain reaction. Chill....

I have a 45 acres out in the piney woods. House is setup for natural lighting, propane stove, water heater etc. Recent hurricanes have provided lots of firewood. 2 acre fish pond loaded with catfish and bream. Manage the property for planted pines and wildlife. Lots of canned food every year from garden with fresh game available. Beyond tractors hunting is second passion and set up with plenty of traditional and non-traditional hunting supplies archery, blackpowder, and reloading supplies and equipment.

Did I mention some of this stuff is safe stash underground? Active militia training during the Clinton years forced alot of forward planning not to mention I just love playing in the dirt and I love hunting and fishing.

As others have said the biggest risk is fighting off those who are not prepared.

Off hand I"d suggest not panicing. Then stop making up and telling unrealistic stories which just makes things worse.

I live 35 miles from the nearest Town/City of any size, the majority of my neighbors, friends and relatives would be considered at or under the official poverty level and they would most likely all survive just fine if things really do get bad. Most of the people in Shreveport would be in line screaming for Obammy or Pelosi to make the cruel, greedy, racist Rednecks who have land, equipment and skills take care of them -- I don't think there would be a whole lot of stealing because they would be too lazy to cook the food they stole and to walk any distance to steal it. Remember New Orleans after Katrina -- full grown men standing in the broiling sun on an interstate overpass begging for water, saying no one told them where to go or what to do. The sheeple are already broken in spirit, they will not take care of themselves. This is why the liberals will never really have complete and total control of the rest of us.

Hiroshima and Nagasaki were rebuilt on top of ground zero and have been populated cities since.

Whoa now,this is serious.Its true.Tell you what,just Google it and you can probably find it.Zechariah Sitchen is a good starting place.There is a story(you say fable)but how do you know its a fable?It is true even now in India,there are pictures of this city and nobody lives there now and there are places that still have high radioactivity where nobody lives in other places on Earth,some in North America and all over the world.Another thing recently they found more cities under the ocean water on the West coast of India,Turns out the reason it was called a fable was because these cities had not been found,now they have.There is a story about an ancient nuclear war in India.Elephants flying through the air on fire,among other things.Every civilization on Earth since the flood knew about it,even when they find those lost tribes that never saw civilized people before they know about the flood,and it was because of the planet Marduk coming close to Earth and the gravity of the planet How far off could we be from a depression though, especially six months from now? I've heard talk of double digit unemployment before this is over. Of course it is only 6.1% now if I remember right. That is quite a way from 10%. Any unemployment rate isn't so bad unless you are one of that rate....Stock market has fallen over 30% in one year, so somebody's hurting. Glad I don't put much faith or $$ into stocks.

I have to add this,lots of myths,fables,just plain stories,have at least a part of truth in them.Most of these myths were written way after most of what I wrote about.Even the Bible was written way after what I was writing about.Some people try to claim its a myth,others say its copied from the Egyptians,and I even read somewhere in a religious magazine that that there were other books that you had to read in order to get what was going on in the Bible,some about astrology.Some even think it is based on the reading of the stars,or horoscope type stories that were passed down from stories that were told before writing was invented,Hmmm,seemed like sombody knew more than they were saying in that religious magazine I read that in.Seems like there is a part of Egyptian religion that talks about horoscope type stuff thats older than the Bible.They were right there next to each other,even fought wars with each other,stories written in the Bible about each other,intermarrying,so they are relatives.The Egyptians are older,and have a story that sounds kind of like Jesus only its Horus I think.Esau is another name that fits in translations for Jesus.I even heard one time that was a bad translation,that Esau or something kind of like that is more accurate than Jesus.Hmm,I dont know,but I think something fishy is going on with the story,and that its much older than we are led to believe,and the people involved are more real because they are really Gods,instead of myth.Thats just my opinion,I could be wrong.Then there are stories about the Druids since the Bible times where they talk about somebody like Jesus,dont remember what he was called but he was tied to a tree and thrown in a river(which is a lot like the Egyptian story where he is cut up into 8 pieces and thrown in a river and grows back up in a tree or something)or maybe thats a mixture of both stories,or myths,or something like a way to remember the zodiac,or I dont know.Some day it will probably get figured out,but its a story of resurrection.In the Egyptian Religion/Zodiac,God is the Sphinx,and all he does is wake up and speak the word"Ptah" and all of the universe is begun.In the book of John it says"In the beginning was the word" so that may be what he is talking about,this all probably came from Sumerians,who were from another planet,or knew the ones from another planet.I actually think there is a lot less myth once you throw in the book of Enoch,where it talks of space travel,and once you read it you know it belongs in the Bible actually was for a long time,and kind of makes lots of other things not a myth any more,which opens up a whole world of things to learn about then,not the hogwash you are misled into supporting.Why would an ancient shepherd,in the times of caveman,make up a myth about,and accurately describe,space travel,then end up the only man taken by God so far?Hmmm.Thats why its not in the Bible any more,people said he had to be crazy to think that stuff up,now we know better,but somewhere in some of that stuff written before the flood it talks about God coming to Earth,taking Enoch,blasting off and killing everything for a long ways in a circle around where the ship blasted off from,I think it was a 300 mile radius,and even tells that people were warned to leave the area before the ship blasted off,but those that didnt listen were vaporized with fire.Still think its a myth?Seek and you will find.The stuff Enoch talks about is amazing,will strike you with awe,and even makes you ask more questions,and thats just one of the books omitted from the Bible,obviously for deception purposes.People in the Bible obviously could travel into the future and back again,or it is a myth.Until now,these times,nobody knew you could travel in space.Evil knows lots more than we do if they are immortal,and in suspended animation,and still are evil spirits in the Earth.I read that in Enoch,even in this time have a hard time explaining it in my mind,but its more like a Star Treck episode than the Bible.I just cant see where its a myth.Fairly advanced for a shepherd before the flood,and there are lots more stories,from all over the world,about amazing things that happened to and on the Earth,which was once called Tiamet before Marduks Moon collided with it and tore a big chunk out of it and was captured in our orbit to become our moon,and to make the asteroid belt,and a planet about half the size it was now called Earth,millions of years later visited by Gods from Marduk.Still think its a myth?Think about all that while running your tractor or combine,just dont get a hedge post in it like happened today.Tears the heck out of a rotor and bean head.

Well after all that long winded stuff I looked up Hiroshima and found its not radioactive any more.Huh?I dont know everything,it kind of hinted it was mostly in the air and the wind blew it away right when the bomb was detonated.I was real surprised to find that out.You know I wasnt here when it all happened,I just read this stuff,it could all be a lie for that matter.When you start seeing all of the stuff thats been translated,it starts to look like lots of stuff has been lied about,its hard to pick whats true and whats not.I dont think I would go pitch a tent in that ancient city, though.It wasnt exactly radioactive that it was called,it was something that kind of sounded like it was radioactivity.Whatever happened seemed like they wanted to put lots of dirt on top of it,or maybe dirt piles up like that over thousands of years,I dont know.There are really places that have been destroyed and people still dont live there much,and hardly anything grows there,deserts.Not much explanation for some of them even being where they are,especially when they dig down and find trees and good dirt and who knows what else.Ancient nuclear or worse war does not sound all that far fetched with all the other stuff written about.
