What bothers me with the newer stuff is the degree to which they're integrated electronics into the hydraulics systems. I don't see that PFC systems are necessarly complicated in their basic form... but they've gotten to the point where the electronics are deep into the flow controls, etc. I think that adds up to a lot of little problems that cost a lot of money. Where I've spent my time on Ford's I find that just about everything is proprietary, and all modestly expensive... and those are open center systems with Rexroth load sensing valves. That's not cheap. I must admit though that I've become fairly fond of the Deere electro-hydraulics harvester controls. That could work with open center, but even those systems are complicated...
