From the IHC standpoint, the hand clutch was better only for operations where the operator operated the tractor from a standing position much of the time, such as crossing rough terrain such as rice levees. For operating in a seated position, the foot clutch was and is best. During the letter series era, the Rice 9's were the only IHC tractor with the hand clutch standard, although it was optional on some other W models. All Farmalls had a foot clutch. Harold H
