Air comming into the system could be from the air cushon in the tank. If the tank is a diaphram system, then it would not be the case unless the diaphram is bad. if it has a pitless adapter, it will require digging to disconnect the pipe from the well head then cap it and put pressure in it to see if it it holds pressure. The O rings of the pitless adapter can also be bad allowing air entry. I would find the leak by isolation befor replacing parts/digging. JimN
