at the shop that i work at, i use the anerobic gasket where it is called for, some times where it is not called for, and sometimes in conjunction with a gasket, and have had good results with the mating surfaces sealing properly. i also know that inorder for it to work properly, all the oil residue needs to be removed.
i was thinking of using some anerobic gasket maker on my JD 60 in place of some of the gaskets. I have heard that the older castings are more porous than the newer castings. will this cause a problem with the anerobic gasket maker sealing properly or not??? i have not had much experiance using anerobic gasket maker on equiptment this old.
