I have had a few bad ones as well. At one, they would give me a raise and tell me I was great; two weeks later I was on probation and near termination. Another two weeks, and there was no mention of probation, I got another raise, and then after two more weeks I was on probation again. As I look at my co-workers I noticed that every one of them had bitten their fingernails down to the point their fingers bled. So - next time I was put on probation I gave them my final quit date.
