Here in Wisconsin we have,or used to have a lot of gravel roads and drive ways. I would think that about 4-6" of breaker run,and then 3-5" of 3/4" road gravel would do the trick. See if you can get someone with a road grader to put a 1% crown on it for you,so it will shed water. That seems to be the most impotant thing for a gravel road.If you don't you will end up with puddles of water,then pot holes,then a mess.
