In the 80's the Fed Govt gave tax credits, rebates etc. for installing energy savings items such as water heater blankets, solar hot water heaters, ETC.Many shyster companies got into the Govt's pocket by selling and installing these items. My maintenance company took care of apprimately 4000 apartments for the owners and we replaced over 2000 water heaters that were less than 3 years old due to rust under the blankets. When we realized what was happening, we started a program to get rid of all of them. The cost of that fiasco was great. So much for saving energy. Nuff said Henry
