Recently I carried my Ford Ranger V6 to the shop with the belt making noise. It had been making noise for some time. I assumed he would replace the belt. It has one belt that covers everything. When I told the mechanic the problem he went to his tool box and got a file and had me start the engine. He gently touched the file to the top of the belt and it stopped some noise. He then held it lightly to the underside and all noise stopped. It has been three months now and stil no noise.
