I am replacing my furnace, and the replacement is a high efficiency which uses a pvc horizontal exhaust through the outside wall. The current set up is for the old furnace and the gas hot water heater tied together, and they use a block/masonry chimney outside of my house up through the overhang/eave. With the new set up, I won't need to exhaust the furnace through the vertical chimney, just the hot water heater. Is there any way to vent the hot water heater horizontally like the new furnace? I would love to remove the block chimney, as I will need to re roof probably next summer anyway, and it would be great to tear down that block chimney prior to the roof job. Thanks in advance.
