Theoretically you're supposed to have a resevoir capacity of 2 to 3 times the pumps flow rate if the system is not equipped with a cooler...........that would be ideal but not practical............
In a hyd system using only cylinders, far less heat is generated than one which uses motors as well so a smaller resevoir can be used...........if temperatures less than 180 deg. F can be maintained the hyd. system should maintain its durabilty............
