Wow, what a mixed up tail that is. First off Cummins is still the largest independent diesel manufacturer. Next, Cummins and JI Case did go into partnership on some new engines in the 1980�s the result were three engine families A, B, C , which gave Cummins a group of new lower HP engines than had previously been available. One of those powers Dodge diesel pickups. Last Ford bought a considerable share of Cummins stock (about 10%) in the late 1980�s. A not uncommon practice for companies to buy large shares of other companies stock. This was done,partly, to ward off a hostile take over attempt by an Australian holding company.
