Well,what Old said,plus you might try taking the intake pipe off of the carb,and hold a rag soaked in gas over the carb intake.If it fires up you know you have a fuel problem.Could be the plugs,but since you said its getting harder and harder to start,your valves might need to be adjusted,that would be why you need to check the compression.If its not that,could be lots of things,bad gas,carb gasket,intake gasket,intake manifold.
