Have to put my $.02 in. I have a '90 Ford 1 ton dually with a 5 speed gearbox and wouldn't trade it for a chevy or dodge. I get average 16 mpg empty, which I think is good. My neighbor has the chevy and a lot of trouble. Dodge is a great motor, but I know guys who have had a lot of trouble with the truck falling apart. Besides, Ford bought Cummins and I have heard it will not be producing motors for Dodge anymore. I'd stick with the Ford.
