I think in this day and age, hedge'n your bets with money in two or more banks would be a good thing. I have a friend who is a "bank inspector" type person for the FDIC in MO, I asked her a while back how long it would take for me to get my money if my bank went under and she said it would not take too long but said for me to put enough money to pay my bills for a month in a mason jar and bury it in the back yard.
That was off the record and we were both drinking but I would say that is the most honest answer you will get.
