I'm seeing a lot of late models, several makes showing major premature rust damage. Back in the '70's manufacturers were building cars of poor materials, design, and no rust proofing to speak of. Customers were very upset when their cars were rusting apart before the payments were made. Well, the manufactuers upgraded their offerings and for a while we were getting quite durable (rust wise) vehicles. Now, I think the manufacturers have let down on rust quality again..... Consumers are giong to have to get wholy upset again. For the prices of these things, they ought to last 'bout 20 years!

After two summers of having to park my old 1964 model 4000 gas 4 cyl. on a hill just in case the 6 volt system, for whatever reason, would not crank her, I decided to try the 12 volt conversion. After some research of convert or not, I decided to go ahead, the main reason being that this tractor was a working tractor, not a show tractor (yet). I did keep everything I replaced for the day I do want to restore her to showroom condition.
