Most pumps will be rated in gallons per 1000 revolutions. Once you determine this, you will better understand the speed the pump will have to be driven to obtain the desired speed on the cylinder being used. For safety reasons log splitters need to have the cylinder to move rather slowly and therefore I think the pump off the truck will be too big or you are going to have to reduce the drive speed considerable.
