If by chance this pump is inside of a oil reservoir, it may be a piston pump. If so, it won't matter which way it turns. If this pump was hooked up to a PTO off a manual transmission, it may only be rated 300 to 1000 rpm. It should be rated at 2000 psi, which is plenty for a logsplitter, but the cycle time will depend on GPM.
