In Grand Rapids, Michigan, light steel, like from metal studs is going for $200.00/ton. By the time the guys pick it up from the job site, unload it at the shop, then reload and take to the scrap yard, I don't think they'll make a lot. Takes about 3300 lf of 20 gauge studs to make a ton. We pay 60 cents per foot and scrapped it works out to about 7 or 8 cents a foot. Might pay to sort the longer lengths for the next job.
