Any oil can/will soften the rubber and that in the long run causes tires to fail and when they do its not pretty. There a few things made just for tire mounting. Murphy's is the best known but also good old dish soap works well. Some tire company's will no honor a warranty on a tire if they find oil has been used to mount them.
