Bill, I'm a john deere man so you might not want to listen to me. Bill what color is the spark? If its yellow and not blue it won't fire under compression. Pull a spark plug wire and hold it about 3/16" from the top of plug, then have someone crank it, then look for a blue spark. If the spark is poor, look at coil, or rotor, etc. You might also want to run a compression check on it. I had an 8n years ago that I had to put engine oil in the spark plug holes after it sat for awhile to get enough compression to start it cold.
