Spook: I"m also 53 and the 74 oil embargo along with Carter"s high interest rates squeezed alot of people. That period from 1974-1984 was pretty tough for alot of people. Just when this country was down and out Reagan comes on the scene and helps restore hope to this country. That"s what a good leader does. I hope we have one waiting in the wings but I"d be very surprised if it was one of the three running. I do agree with other posts that speculators are partly to blame for high oil prices. If I understood what the guy testified to Congress traders buy very large amounts of oil which drives the price up more in a tight market buy taking more oil out of supply.
