I know things are expensive these days but this Jap/Ford engine takes the cake. $1800.00 for parts (doing the work myself) for a 3 clyinder diesel shortblock rebuild, no injector work, no head work, muffler, etc. Just bearings, sleaves, o rings, main seals, gasket kit, rings, freeze plugs and needle bearing, these are OEM prices from Ford. With the exception of the gasket kit, ($462.50) I can get just about every other part from other suppliers for about 1/2 price.
Is their really a big difference in quality in these parts that leads to a longer engine life? Or do you all think I would be throwing money away going through the Ford dealer for this stuff? I mean really now, $177.00 for a single cylinder liner? Some of the aftermarket parts are available on this site.
