Last summer on a Tuesday my Mom's doctor added a new drug to her collection. We stopped at Long John Silvers on the way home, Mom ate 1 1/2 pieces of fish, all her french fries, and drank her pop. That evening she took her new medicine.
The next day she didn't eat or drink. Thursday she didn't eat or drink. Friday she didn't eat or drink, I called the doctor's office and told them all this. The doctor said to double up the medicine and see how she was Monday. Saturday she didn't eat or drink. Sunday she didn't eat or drink. Monday morning we went to the doctor's office, he didn't even see her, sent her straight to the Emergency Room. She was admitted to the hospital and they treated her for a week for dehydration.
The doctor was unhappy when we changed doctors without telling him. He was lucky that he wasn't sued.
He was in over his head treating an Alzheimers patient and wouldn't admit it. He may be great for normal medicine, but he was just throwing drugs at the disease and hoping something would help. Mom is now in a facility for Alzheimers, while there is no cure they keep the residents safe and comfortable.
