Hi, just out of the Hospital again I had a an over doze of meds given to me by my doctor almost didn't make it this time. blood presure was 56/38
still not feeling to good but BP is up and heart feels good again.

I'm wondering if I have a reason to go after the doctor for giving 4 meds that lowered my BP I like the doctor but I almost died, the Ambulance got here faster than ever and they took me in 25 miles at 70 MPH with lights and siren going all the way.

Quite a ride if I do say but I was more interested in getting my BP up than the traffic.
My wife said all but one car pulled over to let us go by must have known it was me in the ambulance.
Walt PS I hope I never have a scare like that agian.

Last summer on a Tuesday my Mom's doctor added a new drug to her collection. We stopped at Long John Silvers on the way home, Mom ate 1 1/2 pieces of fish, all her french fries, and drank her pop. That evening she took her new medicine.

The next day she didn't eat or drink. Thursday she didn't eat or drink. Friday she didn't eat or drink, I called the doctor's office and told them all this. The doctor said to double up the medicine and see how she was Monday. Saturday she didn't eat or drink. Sunday she didn't eat or drink. Monday morning we went to the doctor's office, he didn't even see her, sent her straight to the Emergency Room. She was admitted to the hospital and they treated her for a week for dehydration.

The doctor was unhappy when we changed doctors without telling him. He was lucky that he wasn't sued.

He was in over his head treating an Alzheimers patient and wouldn't admit it. He may be great for normal medicine, but he was just throwing drugs at the disease and hoping something would help. Mom is now in a facility for Alzheimers, while there is no cure they keep the residents safe and comfortable.

glad you're OK. I've been through same. Now I carry a small card with all of my med's listed on it. Whenever I go to Doc show it. Same with pharmacy. Stops most of the meds mix up.

My wife had quadruple bypass surgery four years ago. She said too the scariest part of the whole deal was a 25 mile ride in an ambulance at 2am. She said she could have been in the back of our renter's tandem axle "Binder" farm truck and gotten a better ride.

Also, I made the mistake of trying to keep up with the ambulance. We hadn't gotten out of town before I had two local police cars on my tail with the cherries lit. All I could do was pull over. The cops were real decent about it. One asked if I was following the ambulance. I replied I was. He asked if I knew where the ambulance was going. Again, I said, "Yes". The cop then said, "Don't try to keep up with the ambulance, you won't do it. Get going, but cool it a bit".

The good news was, my wife survived it good shape, and out of a bill for over $100,000, our insurance paid all but $1,100.

Well I'm glad to see I'm well liked on this forum. I was on the ATIS tractor list a while back and they thought I was an Idiot who didn't know anything. BUMMER. Well there loss and your gain I guess.

Hey thanks for all the nice things said about me it makes one happy to have made it threw a bad one.. I feel pretty good this morning finally got some sleep. Those people at the Hospital don't seem to realize that one should sleep at night not get up every hour for some test.

They took away one of my Meds and I guess that was the one that was killing me. the Doctor at the Hospital asked me if I was conscious when my BP was 56/38. I said I took my own BP He said you must be a remarkable person most people would have passed out long before it got that low.

The nurse wouldn't let me sit up because my Heart rate was 50 hey its been 50 for years and 40's when I sleep. I have a real low heart rate.

Anyway I have to see my doctor in a week or two so I will certainly get on his case about this one. He better come clean with some good answers Giggle.

Walt (still here and making people laugh)

Hey Old you better change your handle all us old people are getting unhappy about you kids thinking that you are OLD.

I gotta agree with James Howell as I don't have much confidence in Dr's. God made you and He knows how to repair you. Just don't give up on Him He won't give up on you.

why do you think they call what doctor's do a practice? they practice on you and if they make a mistake, they learn from it and hopefully do not do it to someone else next time! everyone reacts to meds differently so what works on one person might not work on a second even if everything is the same. i would talk to the doctor about it and ask about the side effects of the meds you are on. good doctors are hard to come by so if you like this one, ask him to explain some things to you. this would go a long way to knowing you have a good doctor if he takes the time to answer your questions. if he doesn't then he is only interested in collecting your copay and billing your insurance or cashing your check. good luck and godspeed.

I sure am glad you got there in time. Low blood pressure is not a thing to have. Reminds me of two years ago when I had my regular April malady the doctor gave me some pills that I was allergic to and I had a wild ride the the ER and spent 4 days in ICU because of the drug acted as a poison in my system. This year I only had a lung infection in March and then 7 weeks of shingles. 76 and still getting something new every year. Seems it would run out of stuff to happen. (maybe I better not wish for that) NUff said Henry P>S> Missed the 1st tractor show

Good to hear you are still upright and posting away.

As to your question about the doctor? Only one person could answer that one, but whatever you decide I sure would wait a few weeks before making a decision. Perhaps it is something with a decent excuse for. I would also suggest doing alot of research on the drugs and the warnings, thus you can make a educated decision. Nowdays some computer systems should catch alot of man made mistakes.

Take a little more time to enjoy life, and notice what is important in your life as well.

Good luck with the doctor. They're the only ones who get paid for screwing up. Had my 5 year old in for school shots and for some reason one shot was either infected/reacted to the daughter causing her to be hooked to an IV for four days. Ten days after she was out she had a checkup. Doc asked if I had any questions, yes I did, I asked him if he had his car in for repairs and the engine/trans went out possibly by a mistake of the technician would he expect the tech/shop to stand behind it. He said YES, THEN I ASKED HIM HOW MY DAUGHTER IS ANY DIFFERENT. He said thats different, boy did he get a piece of my mind. Then I asked him for the $1500 after insurance that we owed, he said talk to the hospital. Got nothing.

Glad to know that you made it OK. You need to take care of yourself for the next few days.

You need to have a serious consultation with your doctor.

How would your doctor feel if you almost killed him?

Nancy spelled out below what happened to my dad.

After what he went through, I don"t have too much faith in doctors.

You take care of yourself!

You may be a canadate for an ICD. One heart attack and one pass out will qualify. If you do, get it as fast as you can . Mine is the best "security blanket" ever made. I just go to sleep at night and let it do the worry. Don't get too excited..the body can stand a lot more that most think. I have seen my BP at 60 over and 222 over and I am still here. Just looked in my pill box and I take 6 a day for heart. Over 20 years since surgery with staff infection. LEARN TO BE WORTHLESS, and no getting excited. Kennyp

10-4 on the ICD. Saved my life twice. Medicare and sup ins. paid the total bill. Ask the heart Dr. if you qualify. The Medtronix ICD information booklet has myself and grandsons sitting on my 8-n Ford on the cover. They also have myself and grandchildren along with our Moline 445 pulling tractor on their info vidio.

When taking more than one drug it is a good idea to check with the pharmacy to see if there might be a conflict. Doctors just push the pill. but the pharmacy know which combination won't work together. If it hadn't been for alert pharmacist at CVS they would have killed my MIL

Glad your ok. If you were to die do you know where you would spend eternity? Romans 3:23 For all have sinned and come short of the Glory of God.

Romans 3:10 As it is written, There is none righteous, no, not one.

James 2:10 For whosoever shall keep the whole law, and yet offend in one point, he is guilty of all.

Romans 6:23 For the wages of sin is death but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord. (death being eternal separation from Jesus spent in Hell)

Romans 5:8 But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.

Romans 10:13 For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.

John 14:6 Jesus saith unti him, I am the way the truth and life, no man cometh unto the Father but by me.

John 3:16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

John 3:3 Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.

Ephesians 2:8&9 For by grace are ye saved through faith, and that not of yourselves, it is the gift of God; Not of works, lest any man boast.

At least you're here to talk about your
close call! And I don't know your age,
but live each day as if it's the last.
I'm 75 and you come to know, growing old ain't for sissies. Aches and pains go along with the privilege of "old age".

Several years ago, my FIL collapsed at the farm. Thank God we were there. We rushed him to the hospital. They were in a tizzy because his heart rate was in the 50"s. ER dr. wanted to see all his meds. When we got them, ER dr. said 5 of his meds had a side effect of lowering the heart rate. He spent a week in the hospital and his regular dr. never even came by to see him. I was hot over that.

Be sure to ask you dr. what side effects the meds he prescribes have and take care of yourself.

Everybody responds differently to medications; doctor's next patient might have a heart attack because the same meds didn't lower it enough.

Strangely same situation yesterday - Grandfather in reply to Lanse, 05-14-2008 16:46:53
The police found my grandfather on the floor of his home yesterday after a neighbour couldn't get hold of him. They had changed his blood pressure meds the day before and it went so low he had collapsed on the floor and laid for hours.

2 days prior he had been in hospital with 200 over something blood pressure.
