A traditional definition is: A flat belt driven radial saw that resembles a huge tablesaw. The blade is usually over 18" diameter usually 24+. The arbor runs across the top of the frame, and the saw is monted on that. The units are designed with a sliding or tilting table that "kinda" holds the limb or log in position and supports it as the table is pushed manually past the blade. They usuakky run near twice drive speed using a smaller ~6-7" pulley on the driven end, and a standard 9 or 10" pulley on the drive (tractor) end. They can be stand alone, with legs and ground anckors, or monted to the tractor to allow freedom of movement. Dangerous hard on the labor end of things very noisy and considered way better than an axe, or buck saw. JimN
