a front wheel drive is ok during winter in Iowa and studded tires are legal for winter months. I would reccomend a 4wd though, something small because parking in Iowa City is awful at times. If you like old motorcycles there is a town called Anamosa that's not too far from Iowa City that's kinda neat to visit also. Glad to hear your daughter is going to one of the finest schools around.
