While I was away at college Mom found an owl that had fallen out of it's nest. She called the game warden and was told to wire a basket to the tree and put the owl in it. The parents went ahead and fed it. It seems that owls start sitting on the eggs as soon there is one. The babies hatch out over a period of time so they are all different ages. The nest isn't big enough so babies get pushed/fall from the nest. They will end up all over the tree, the parents find them and feed them.
