This on an IH 856, I have 15.5 bias with no weights or ballast and a set of clamp on 15.5 duals. I also have a set of 2 - 16.9 GoodYear Radials with at least 75% tread left. What would be a better overall combination when used in a field work situation, say pulling a 24" spring tooth in plowed ground. The 15.5s with 75%ballast and just air in the duals or the single 16.9 x 38 GY radials with 75% ballast. I know there is more tire on the ground with the dualled 15.5s but am I right in thinking the radial could actually have more compaction but better grip because of being a radial?
