I did this once to a waterjacket stud on my friends M. We started drilling with bigger and bigger bits. When we got right to the threads we ran a thread tap in the hole and it worked like a charm. You could try using a set of left handed bits and see if the heat from the drilling would free up the stud. A good engine shop could aslo get it out, or do a more professional job with the afore mentioned heli-coil. In case you didn't know, a heli-coil is a set of threads that you insert in a stripped out hole. Not sure of the details, but thats the general idea. If the head hole is big enough,you could also go to the next size bigger stud, but the odds of everything being right for that aren't very good. Hope I could be of some help.
