What color is the smoke? Blue?
Are you saying it smokes after you changed the oil? If so, are you sure you didn't over fill it?
If it has been blowing blue smoke for some time it may be time for an overhaul as it is most likely pulling oil past the rings.
If this is an engine that has been sitting and your just getting it going, the rings could be stuck. In this case you could try one of Old's tricks and soak it up with tranny fluid to see if they will come loose.
