I borrowed my buddy's log splitter a few years ago before I had one of my own. It had not been run in several years. I cleaned it up, tuned it up and put fresh gas in. It started first time and proceeded to disintegrate the pulley that drives the hydraulic pump...I found one at a local supply house at 4:55 on a friday when President Bush was in town for something and they had all of the roads blocked. I've never had so much time invested in such a small part! It's just the right thing to do to fix anything that breaks when borrowing equipment, but you did the right thing by him. At least he offered.
