Once you get dial tone on the line and hook it to the fax. If you have a stand alone answering machine it needs to be hooked into the Phone not wall port on the fax machine, so it can intercept the call after the answering machine picks it up. Fax machines send out a certain tone which your fax machine can hear after the phone is answered and go online to recieve the fax.
