Well thats really not too strange with todays cars. My 02 F350 differentials are rated for 100k miles on a 1ton pick-up. Just look at the heat they see pulling full load weight.
I also had a Unkle Jude that would buy a new car in the 50's and 60's and never changed oils, including engine oil. He always got 225k to 250k miles out of his vehicles. That's a pretty bold move for that era.
If he was asked about it he'd reply, "well....., well, I just added a quart last week to the engine, so it has new oil in it". Unkle Jude always started every sentence with "well....., well" with a long pause between well's and you guessed it, he drilled water wells for a living...lol
