I don't own either trailer, but I have used (rented)surge brakes and I am not very staisfied with the results I've experienced. I have towed my 8N to my recreational property in the spring and back again in the fall (170 miles each way) mostly steep inclines and declines. On the declines my brakes are almost smoking, and when I do get to my destination, backing up is difficult due to lack of traction. My towing vehicle is only a 1/2 ton, but if I had the chance I would sooner have electric anyday. Just my opinion.
