Jon, I don't have a shop manual that covers the generator that I have. I changed my 1945 "A" Model JD from a 6v to 12v system, therefore, my shop manual only covers the 6v generator. The rebuilt generator that I have is listed for a later model "A" that had the 12 volt system. If I remember correctly it is a Delco #1100955 generator. I think it may have the external ground but not sure.
