With all due respect I can't imagine why anyone wants to teach school. I have a teacher brother in Fargo and his life, mostly due to his income, is miserable. After a early start as a Geologist I ended up being Firefighter, Paramedic, and HazMat Specialist in surburban San Francisco. I have no regrets at all as far as experiences or income. Our Fire Dept, Health Dept and the Sheriff and Police Depts are loaded with ex-school teachers. We have a 7 year old girl, last year at Parents Night, the suggested donation for "activities" was $2500.00. That is per student, not class. Don't get me wrong, it is an excellent school with excellent results and enormous parent involvement. I just can't understand why anyone wants to work there when there are other choices. Most definately, on a teachers salery, you couldn't buy a house in that School District and sent your kids to that school. Just wondering what is the attraction ? If I wanted to be poor I could go back to SW ND and start farming. At least I loved that life style.
