Like anything, it depends a lot on how it was used and cared for. And then of course if there was any design/mfg. flaws in that model. I had looked at the Honda"s in that time period, nice machine only they steered hard.
My brothers always had 300 Bayous, Kawasaki, beat the crap out of them and they just kept going. I bought a Polaris 500 because I liked the independent suspension, boy was I disappointed in that machine, my brothers will never let me live that one down. My son and I now each have 650 Kawasaki"s and love them. They also have enclosed brakes in the back, no dirt or ice in them. They just came out with electronic ignition, before that they were cold blooded starters. I guess that would not be an issue in the Southern U.S. Paul
