Dad always wore long-sleeved shirts. We were shelling corn one day with an old MM corn picker on our Super C. His shirt-tail got caught in the PTO, he grabbed the shirt near the buttons. The shirt looked like somebody took pruning shears and cut it straight across just below his hand (belly-button level). He had blood-blisters on the other side of his neck from the sudden tug, but sustained no other injuries. The ladies in the family that knew about sewing said the shirt shouldn't have torn that way because fabric doesn't tear "across the bias". Whole left front shirt-tail was gone, from the center to the side of the shirt.
