Independent PTO is completely independent of the foot clutch, can be engaged or disengaged without touching the foot clutch and continues to run even when the foot clutch is depressed unless it is disengaged by its own lever. Any other type is not INDEPENDENT PTO
Massey Ferguson used a two stage foot clutch which partially depressed disengaged the transmission but not the PTO. The foot clutch had to be pushed down to engaged or disengage the PTO lever. The Ford 8N had to be completely depressed to engage or disengage the PTO Engaged with the clutch up and engine running turned the PTO shaft To stop it from turning the clutch had to be completely depressed. That said , I think the early Super MTA tractors didn't have independent PTO but the later ones did. I don't know of any letter series John Deere that had IPTO BUT I could be wrong.
