I have an 81 olds regency 98 with a GM 200r4 metric trans.It has 160,000 miles on it. Recently it started making a buzzing noise from the transmission in every gear except reverse. The noise appears with the engine running below 800 RPM. The noise seems to be coming from the shifter area. It sounds like a loose catalytic converter panel but that isn't it. It doesn't seem to have an effect on the operation but it is noisey at an idle. Anybody ever have a similar problem or have an idea on what it could be? Thanks in advance for your help.
