My dad works for At&t, he has a 1999 F450 with a V10. That thing runs a minimum of 8 hours a day M-F because he never shuts the thing off. They change the oil every 15,000mi and it has somewhere around 225,000 on it, never had a problem. Currently it burns a quart every 1500 or so.
One thing to watch out for, granted this doesn't happen that often, but, make sure you change the antifreeze every few years or add a coolant additive to it such as Fleetguard DCA. Because the block is cast iron and the heads are aluminum you can get a bad reaction going on through the antifreeze and cause holes to form in the head leading to less than pleasant results.
