oil John Deere 2010

I have an old 196? John Deere loader/backhoe. My son and I have a disagreement about what type oil to put in the rear end. He says it is two cavities and we should use 80-90 in the rear end and something else in the transmission. I say it is all one cavity and uses only one oil. Probably JD Hyguard or another universal product that is similar. Can Anyone help? Thanks in advance. Don
