G1000 MM Diesel

I have a MM G1000 Diesel that ran great until late summer. It starts and idles fine, but when you open the throttle the engine revs up for a few seconds and returns to an idle. Even with the throttle pulled wide open it will set and idle. We have cleaned the fuel lines put in new filters and drained the fuel tank. Someone suggested that it may be the govenor and it is idling back the fuel pump. I understand govenors on gas tractors, but havent dealt with them on diesels before. Any help would be apprieciated. I need to get it going before summer, we use it on the blower for filling silos.
