According to the guys at Edwards AFB that IS a true story, at least thats what they tell me.
Another one they like to talk about is the time some of the guys were late getting back to base and the local CHIPS did a similar thing catching several of them speeding and issued tickets. Later, a couple of the Pilots, returning from a testing mission, Flying a C130 with fancy radar jamming equipment they were testing, BUZZED the CHIPS, and back fed the radar with enough watts to see the smoke roll out as the CHIPS jumped from thier car.
I spend a lot of time working with electrical techs from Edwards, and thats what they tell me.
