You have brought up a good point Chip.
You're right we all got carried away and started the which came 1st? chicken or egg debate.
There aint nothing wrong with brazing, it will work and in fact it is easier to get an oil and watertight job with brazing. It will also grind down and be smoother to paint over, which makes it a better looking job when you're finished.
Here where I am the flux rods are cheaper than welding also.
