Here in east Texas I have been selling top quality bermuda hay for $4.00-$4.50 a bale at the barn and the feed stores are charging $7.00 a bale and that hay is local. We have had a bumper crop of hay this year but next year we will probably be back to our usual drought. With the high cost of fertilize and equipment expense hay has to produce a lot of bales per acre to make any thing at selling hay at $4.00 a bale. So watch out for cheaper hay that they say is fertilized and clean.
