look around by the thermostat housing for a small pipe plug type fitting. many of the newer vehicles have an air bleeder to get it out of the cooling system, especially if the coolant recovery tank is remote mounted with the pressure cap on it. it will get a slug of air in the motor and block coolant flow. if you find one, open it, add coolant and run the engine till all the air comes out.
